This site is for my brother, sisters and cousins (no matter how far removed). It speaks of four people specifially and
then refers to many others. There are many links so you can see where are family came from and who we are decended from. For
the people who bring these four people together, my parents, my brother and sisters, please note that even though your last
name is (or was) Schmid we are only one-quarter Swiss. The other three-quarters are decidedly British.
This is just a start! On the following pages I'll provide a little information about our ancestors and provide links
so that you can see where they came from. Most of this information was obtained because of interviews that I conducted with
my parents and grandparents. Luckily for us our ancestors kept good records such as a book called, Irwin Family
in New York, 1938. This book has a lot of clues as to where our family comes from and other books that will give the
answers. I have also included links to several websites. While these are not always the most reliable sources they do provide
some information that could point us in the right direction and some of their information is spot on.
This is a work in progress, so please contact me if you have any information that might help round out
the picture.
